The Schuyler Sisters would be proud of dad's running away for the summer and going upstate. And of his break-taking.

You could say dad's week's been rough. It's been a lot of...

OK, I'll stop.

Mom says "Vermont must be nice this time of year..." maybe they'll arrive with the snow and get an early White Christmas?

While today's been full of musical references, it's also been fairly hilly once again. Nearly past the Fingerlakes region, Dad will spend most of the rest of next week crossing NY to get to VT. That is, if they're allowed across the border after having traversed many a township and possibly collected covid cooties. All dad has to do is fly under the radar in Vermont for 50ish miles or so to cross the state and not get pulled over to get away with it. Mom just hopes he'll STAY ALIIIIIVE.

OK last one, I promise.

Dad's taking an extended leave this weekend and granting himself a full two days off, because he's his own boss now and he gets to approve his own time off. Mom and dad will be driving to visit some more church historical sites before taking the day off on Sunday for religious observance. A good thing, too. Dad may be scrappy and hungry, but he's not young, and those legs have been in high-gear pedaling on a low-gear all week. It's a well deserved respite.

From Dad:

More lovely hills, but nowhere near as long, and only a couple that took me to low gear. In Canandaigua I missed a sign. Actually I think I missed two. By the time I suspected I was not on the right road, I was about ¾ mile off course. So I checked my google maps, and, sure enough, I had to do some backtracking. I rode 47.2 miles today in 4:04, finishing in Geneva, NY. But a mile and a half of that was a detour of my own making. So I have done 6 days’ riding itinerary in 5 days. I am taking tomorrow off, so that we have time to go visit some historical sites. That will give me two days to recuperate. Three and a half weeks of riding, and just a dozen miles or so short of 1000 miles. Just 700 to go, more or less.

See you on Monday, Dad!
