In today's episode of Missouri Tall Tales, my dad rides so fast he outpaces a rainstorm!

From Dad:

"Today was forecast for rain in Bemidji by 10:00. We started early, at 7:45, about 15 miles west of town. There was a pretty good headwind--I guess that's just going to be the story of my ride--and the clouds were low and threatening. As I continued to ride, however, the clouds lifted--it was still overcast, but not as threatening. I rode 47 miles today in a little over 5 hours, ending up at a wide spot in the road called Bena. I loaded the bike on the car and headed back toward Bemiji. We hadn't gone 15 miles when we encountered a downpour--and it has continued to rain for the rest of the day. Somehow I was able to stay ahead of the storm, even at bike speeds. What's weird is that the winds were from the east, but the storm moved in behind us from the west. I am VERY confused! But grateful to have stayed dry!"

And then, BAM. Rainstorm hit like a dog to a screen door.

Meanwhile, in Mom's search for interesting things to look at along the road, a giant (wooden?) fish. A "Reel Big Fish."

"The fish was THIS BIG "

It looks more like a Herculean trial than a Sunday Fish Fry. Enough to feed a family of 10, amirite?

In Minnesota, a stop sign means you've hit the big city.

I like that shoulder. That's a NIIIIICE shoulder.

And tomorrow, the Mississippi!
