Tail winds, downhill, and overcast. It doesn't get much better than that, except when you're wearing a super-visible rainbow shirt and can pretend you're a superhero. For once, a day where things went Dad's way.
"Going out to Center of the Nation yesterday, my bike got coated with dust. Riding yesterday, I cringed at what it must be doing to the chain, gears, wheels, etc. So first thing this morning, we took the bike (and Mom's rollator) to the car wash. After soaping them down, I applied an ample supply of WD-40, then headed back out to Niagara to start riding.
A strong tail-wind, a drop in altitude, full cloud cover, cool temps, and I was able to make some tracks today. 20 miles in the first hour and a half--48 miles in 4 hours, including eating lunch. I had to work around construction on the bridge over the Red River. Made it into Minnesota 3-4 miles. Great way to get started on the ride this year. First time in my life to be in Minnesota!"
