"Drove back 30 miles to our starting point. Noticed 2 things: 1. Chipseal road construction on our route through Kalispell; 2. 6 miles of bike path beside the highway to ride without traffic interference. So I rode a few miles until I could jump on the bike path. It had one section that doubled back on itself and cost me an extra ¼ mile but it was SO worth it! Traffic is heavy and that was much less stressful. When we got to Kalispell we took 93 north toward Whitefish. It probably added 3 miles to the ride but was worth not having to deal with the construction. Ate lunch at camp. At this point the heat of the day was on. Rode another 25 miles or so. I think I ended about 62 miles. Garmin had problems and speedometer slipped off its base and didn’t record for a while. Tomorrow’s goal was 50 miles out of Columbia Falls. Got half of that today. If I can do that many miles (62) tomorrow, we’ll be at Browning and done for the week. Forecast 50% chance of rain. We’ll see what happens!"
