"Left Jonathan's house in Middleton, Idaho at 6:00 A.M. Did some miscelaneous shopping in Caldwell, then drove north up the west side of Idaho, mostly on Highway 95, to arrive at our campground-- Albeni Cove. Set up camp, then got to our starting place, the "Welcome to Idaho" sign, just east of Newport, Washington. Started riding about 4:30 P.M., so the day was well spent already. I was able to ride for 4 hours and covered 45 miles. The terrain was fairly flat -- a few small hills here and there -- as many ups as downs. Feeling strong. Ended at Elmira, Idaho, about 13 miles short of my goal. Blame it on daylight and the fact that they lock the campground at 10:00 P.M. Try to make it up tomorrow."
